Elon Musk scouting for potential Mars landing sites
Elon Musk is serious about colonizing Mars and his aerospace company SpaceX has requested NASA to provide it with potential landing sites on the Red Planet.
SpaceX’s HiRise images indicate it is interested in the Arcadia region of Mars, which has both volcanoes and large open plains.
SpaceX is currently building two orbital prototypes and just completed a successful short jump of its Starhopper prototype as a test of its Raptor engine, reports CNET.
SpaceX is building the “Starship” (formerly known as the BFR), a fully reusable vehicle designed to take humans and supplies to Mars.
In an interview with Axios, Musk said that that there is “70 per cent chance that he will go to Mars”, despite a “good chance” of him not surviving either on the way or after landing.
Musk earlier floated the idea that making Mars warmer would be crucial for making it habitable for humans and one way of doing it would be launching thermonuclear weapons in order to create tiny “suns” over the regions.
The idea is to convert any frozen carbon dioxide into gas, thereby engineering a greenhouse gas.
Musk then floated a new theory, without abandoning the nuking Mars idea.
“Might make sense to have thousands of solar reflector satellites to warm Mars vs artificial suns (tbd),” he tweeted.
“Nuke Mars refers to a continuous stream of very low fallout nuclear fusion explosions above the atmosphere to create artificial suns. Much like our sun, this would not cause Mars to become radioactive,” he added.
Musk has already estimated the cost of having a self-sustaining civilization on the Red Planet which is “between $100 billion and $10 trillion”.
He arrived at the figure after estimating the approximate future cost of sending a minimum payload to Mars “to nearest order of magnitude”, at $100,000 per tonne. So if building a self-sustaining city on Mars requires a million tonnes of cargo, the cost would be around $100 billion, Musk calculated.
Companies such as SpaceX and scientific bodies around the world have been working towards inventing technologies to allow humans to venture beyond Earth’s moon but it could still take a decade or more before that is attempted.
Samsung Galaxy M30s renders confirm triple rear cameras and 3.5mm audio jack By
An image of Samsung Galaxy M30s smartphone has been leaked yet again. The renders – shared with 91mobiles via industry sources – reveal the rear and side profile of the Galaxy M30s, which are in line with the leaks and rumours. The images confirm that the upcoming affordable handset will feature curved edges and gradient finish with a blue tint at the back. There will be triple rear cameras at the top-right corner along with an LED flash and a fingerprint scanner at the centre of the Samsung Galaxy M30s back panel. We can see the right edge will house the hardware power and volume keys, while the profile of the 3.5mm audio jack can be seen at the bottom. Unfortunately, there is no shot of the phone’s fascia, but it’s believed to come with an Infinity-U display.
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy M30s is expected to launch as early as next month in India as a successor to the Galaxy M30 smartphone. It is tipped to come with a bunch of upgrades including a 48-megapixel main sensor, a staggering 6,000mAh battery, and a respectable chipset. The Samsung Galaxy M30s price in India is not known yet, but it’s believed to cost between Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000.

Going by the previous leaks and rumours, the Galaxy M30s will be powered by Android 9-based One UI out of the box. It’ll sport a 6.4-inch Infinity-U display with Full HD+ resolution and a small cut-out atop that will reportedly house a 16-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calling. The 48-megapixel main sensor with an f/2.0 aperture lens at the back will most likely be paired with a 5-megapixel secondary depth sensor with f/2.2 and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with f/2.2 setup.
While the Galaxy M30s has been rumoured to rock Samsung’s Exynos 9610 SoC, a Google Play Console listing suggests it could employ the unannounced Exynos 9611 mobile platform instead. The phonemaker is tipped to ship the handset with two RAM and storage configurations: 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB. Reliance JioFiber launch: How much do you need to pay to install JioFiber connection at home
Reliance Industries Ltd set the telecom sector on fire after it announced the launch of Jio GigaFiber broadband service. The service will roll-out from September 5, and Reliance Jio is leaving no stone unturned to make it a success. Besides the high-speed internet, Jio GigaFiber connection will come with a landline phone connection and TV set-top box. The company also announced that it will give 4K LED TV and a 4K set-top box free to those who buy its annual plans as part of the Jio Welcome Offer. There will also not be any installation charges during the initial period.
Reliance JioFiber has already received 1.5 crore registrations and the company is aiming to cover as many as 2 crore residences and 1.5 crore business establishments across 1,600 towns in India. To attract more customers, Jio has said the JioFiber subscribers will be able to make free voice calls from home to any Indian telco. The international calling tariffs will also be reasonably priced. JioFiber connection will also come with a subscription to several top premium OTT applications.
How to get JioFiber connection?
The registration process is already underway and customers can apply for a JioFiber connection by visiting the company’s website and following a simple process. Once the registration is complete, a company engineer will visit your area and install the JioFiber broadband service. The company promises the system will be activated within two hours. Before this, Jio GigaFiber was available under the Reliance Jio preview offer where users had to pay a security deposit of Rs 2,500 for the router.

The installation of JioFiber broadband connection is free during the initial rollout phase. That’s not all, the customers will also get free landline connection. “As part of our initial rollout, we are offering complimentary JioFiber installation and connection to all our customers. Other than the refundable security deposit, as of now, there are no additional installation charges,” Jio said.

JioFiber plans are competitively priced starting from Rs 700 per month for a 100Mbps connection. Premium users can also opt for 1Gbps connection priced at Rs 10,000.

Chandrayaan-1 team recalls how they thanked their Gods after spacecraft entered lunar orbit
According to him, officials had the pictures of their favourite deities on their computer consoles. Some had laddus from the famed Venkatachalapathy Temple in Tirupati.
“I was wearing a new dress. Normally on such big occasions, I would prefer to wear a new dress to feel fresh,” Annadurai added.
The global success rate for a mission like that was not very great and the acquisition of the polar orbit was a tricky aspect, he said.
The spacecraft tracking team and others were matching the Chandrayaan-1 actual orbit with that of the expected one.
On Nov 8, 2008, the Chandrayaan-1 was successfully injected into the lunar orbit and the ISRO officials heaved a big sigh of relief.
Many thanked their Gods for listening to their prayers.
The Chandrayaan-1 spacecraft was launched on Oct 22, 2008. Interestingly, its successor Chandrayaan-2 was also launched on 22nd but in the month of July, 2019.
The learnings of Chandrayaan-1 mission was helpful for ISRO’s second inter-planetary mission Mangalyaan or Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) in 2014.
“During Mangalyaan mission, peanuts were distributed to the staff at the suggestion of an official of Jet Propulsion Laboratory, USA. They used to share peanuts during any critical space mission,” Annadurai said.
Speaking about critical operation on Tuesday, Annadurai said the Chandrayaan-2 orientation will be first changed to 180 degree.
Then the spacecraft’s on-board motors will be fired. Now the spacecraft’s velocity has to be reduced for an elliptical orbit.
After Chandrayaan-2’s insertion into the lunar orbit, ISRO will carry out four more orbit manoeuvres (August 21, 28, 30 and September 1) to enter it into its final orbit passing over lunar poles at a distance of about 100 km from the Moon’s surface.
Subsequently, the Vikram lander will separate from the orbiter on September 2, 2019 and for two days it will calibrate its systems.
Two orbit manoeuvres will be performed on the lander before the initiation of powered descent to make a soft landing on the lunar surface on September 7, 2019, ISRO said.
“That will be the terrifying 15 minutes of landing as everything should go well,” Annadurai said.
Soon after the rover-Pragyan- will roll down.
After working they will go to sleep. Owing the very cold climate the systems will be very cold and ISRO will try to wake up the systems 14 days after, that is, one lunar day.
On July 22, the Chandrayaan-2 was injected into an elliptical orbit of 170×45,475 km by India’s heavy lift rocket Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle-Mark III (GSLV Mk III) in a text book style.
The spacecraft comprises three segments — the Orbiter (weighing 2,379 kg, eight payloads), the lander ‘Vikram’ (1,471 kg, four payloads) and rover ‘Pragyan’ (27 kg, two payloads).

JEE Main 2020: National Testing Agency Releases Schedule For January, April Exams
NEW DELHI:
National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the schedule for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2020. NTA has released application and exam dates for JEE Mainexam which will be conducted in January and in April. The application process for JEE Main January 2020 will begin on September 2 and end on September 30, 2019.
The admit cards for JEE Main January 2020 will be released on December 6, 2019. The examination will be conducted in multiple sessions between January 6 and January 11, 2020.
The result for JEE Main 2020 January exam will tentatively be released on January 31, 2020.
The second JEE Main exam for 2020 will be conducted from April 3 to April 9, 2020. The application process for the April 2020 JEE Main exam will begin on February 7 and conclude on March 7, 2019.
The admit cards for JEE Main April 2020 will be released on March 16. The JEE Main April 2020 result will tentatively be released on April 30, 2020.
NEET UG Only Once In 2020; National Testing Agency Releases Schedule
JEE Main is conducted for admission to undergraduate engineering and architecture courses offered at NITs, IIITs and Centrally Funded Technical Institutes.
Apart from admission to engineering courses, JEE Main ranks and scores are also used to shortlist candidates for appearing in JEE Advanced exam. JEE Advanced is conducted for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes offered at IITs.
Until this year, the top 2,24,000 rank holders in JEE Main were shortlisted and eligible for JEE Advanced exam.
In case, a student appears in both the exams, the best rank/score of the two will be considered for shortlisting and counselling purposes.

Mahanadi Hall of Residence – It is a Boy’s hostel which offers 800 hostel accommodations for students. All the hostel rooms are single occupant basis along with the facility of Wi-Fi, Basketball Court, Volleyball Court, Badminton Court, Table Tennis and Carom etc. The hostel is located in a main campus at Arugul.
Dr. A.N. Khosla Hall of Residence – This hostel is also offered by the institute for boys. The hostel can house 240 students. The hostel is situated near the Samantapuri Campus.

The first American spacecraft expected to land on the moon in nearly 50 years will be an unmanned robotic lander built by closely held Astrobotic Technology Inc and launched in two years by United Launch Alliance’s Vulcan rocket, the companies told Reuters on Monday. Astrobotic was one of nine companies chosen in November to compete for $2.6 billion to develop small space vehicles and other technology for 20 missions to explore the lunar surface over the next decade.
Space telescope offers rare glimpse of Earth-sized rocky exoplanet
Direct observations from a NASA space telescope have for the first time revealed the atmospheric void of a rocky, Earth-sized world beyond our own solar system orbiting the most common type of star in the galaxy, according to a study released on Monday. The research, published in the scientific journal Nature, also shows the distant planet’s surface is likely to resemble the barren exterior of the Earth’s moonor Mercury, possibly covered in dark volcanic rock.
